Aspen Hill eye shop
At our vision practice and optical store, Quality Optical of Olney, we are very happy to offer multifocal eyeglass lenses. Our
Aspen Hill eye shop customers can get progressive lenses, bifocals, and trifocals.
The benefit of having multifocal eyeglass lenses, is that you can have one pair of eyeglasses which contains either two or three prescription lenses in it, allowing you to see clearly at different distances. It is very common for patients to get progressive lenses which have two lenses in it – one for distance vision and one for up-close reading or work. The benefits of these progressive lenses are many. To begin with, patients will not need to change eyeglasses if they suddenly need to see something up close or at a distance. They simply need to shift their eyes. To see at a distance, you will look through the central or upper part of the lens, and to see things up close you will look downward through the lower part of the lens. Since using reading glasses is often associated with getting older, some patients are not happy with the fact that they need to wear reading glasses; they feel it announces to others that they are reaching a certain age. With progressive lenses, the eyeglasses have no delineation between the two different lens prescriptions, so no one is able to tell you are using reading glasses. In addition, the field of vision is larger, and is not interrupted by any lines in the prescriptions. Multifocal progressives can even have three different lens prescriptions in them. If you are more interested in traditional bifocal lenses, which do have a clearly marked area for reading and distance, we offer these as well. At our Aspen Hill eye shop we also offer Carl Zeiss lenses which can be used for driving, work, or playing. We are very happy to provide this lens option, which has customized solutions for patients who want progressive lenses.
